Birthday

My birthday was Sunday. I had the great pleasure of spending the weekend with my sister and one of my best friends. We each brought a bottle of champagne, my BF sent a bottle of Dom, and we got a large hotel room in Rockland, Maine.

I rarely get to have a "girls weekend". In fact, I don't even remember that last time. Here's what we did;
Met at the hotel. The hotel was chosen because of its view of the harbor. It was socked in all weekend.

Summer?

Rainy days, a weird schedule for my son, my daughter trying so hard to get a job, it's been a strange summer. My son starts school in just a couple of weeks. My daughter goes back to college a month later. Zip the time has gone!

We've tried to make the best of it, we've had some nice family excursions. None of us like the visitation schedule my ex set up for the summer. It is hugely interruptive to any continuity for the three of us but we manage, we tried it, we will not do it the same next su… Continue

Post Holiday

Do you celebrate Christmas and/or New Years? I do but know people who do not. What did you do for the holidays?

Christmas for me was very nice, the kids went to candlelight service at church with me. This was the first time they agreed to go! We were tired and cold so skipped our usual drive around looking at house decorations. Christmas morning was opening presents and enjoying one anothers company, then the kids went to their fathers to have time with him. In the afternoon the bo-hun

This year we are going for turkey.

How about you? Traditional, vegan, fish, not participating, small gathering, large mullti-generational lovefest, what will it be?

Harry Potter Mania

We had the largest HP themed gathering in the Northeast in Portland Friday night. It was called Mugglefest 2007. You are invited to see the pictures if you'd like;

It was hot, crowded, smelly toward the afternoon, and completely fun. We were there for about 9.5 hours from getting to the train at 11:30am to getting off the train back to where w

Actually I was quite the gardener, flowers, shrubs, trees etc. I tended several beds and traded plants with friends when separating time came along. I especially loved my herb garden, as did my daughter who grazed in it from an early age whenever she got hungry while outside.

About 8 years ago I became ill with a not yet curable chronic pain issue. This has kept me from doing a lot. But I putter when I can, and visit other peoples gardens, as well as public gardens. I am ever in search of a alternative to grass for my thin soiled, dry as a bone front yard.

This year my daughter wanted a mow free yard so she could take pictures of bugs, critters and plants that might like the yard in a more natural state. We loved it but I don't think it is going to be a regular thing.

Thank you for asking. If you'd like I will send you the linnk to my flickr pages, there are plenty of Lawn Gone Wild photos. LOL

Hello! I just joined and am really looking forward to getting to know everyone here! I love that describe yourself as a wishful gardener ... What do you grow? I'm a city dweller with no room for a garden, so I guess I'm a wishful gardener of another sort.
